Appearing at genron cafe "Contemporary Russian Culture Through Fashion"

Keiichiro Shibuya has been confirmed to participate in an event titled “Contemporary Russian Culture Through Fashion: On Post-Soviet National Identity,” to be held at Genron Café (Gotanda, Tokyo) on April 26, 2019.

Joining him in this discussion will be Takashi Matsushita, a researcher and translator of contemporary Russian literature who contributed an essay titled “Fashion and Post-Soviet Culture” to Genron Beta 30, and Yusuke Koishi, representative of Kleinstein Co., Ltd., who directs and consults for domestic and international brands. Together, they will engage in a dialogue about fashion and culture.

The discussion will explore the cultural background embedded in the works of Gosha Rubchinskiy and Vetements, delving into the significance of the global rise of styles from Russia and other former Communist Bloc countries. They will also consider how Russian youth culture, particularly in fashion and music, is likely to evolve and expand. This first-time dialogue among three individuals from such diverse backgrounds is highly anticipated.
