Talk Event Kunitaka Kokaji x Keiichiro Shibuya – from Classic to Contemporary music
Classical Music: From Bach and Beethoven to Contemporary Music
@ Asahi Culture Center Shinjuku
Kunitaka Kojin + Keichiro Shibuya
Today, is the genre of “classical music” merely a historical heritage of European culture? Using the music of Bach and Beethoven as a starting point, the event will explore the music of their time. What are the differences between classical and contemporary music? Composer Keichiro Shibuya, whose activities encompass everything from electronic music to pop music and the avant-garde after Cage and Boulez, will discuss contemporary music alongside his former university mentor, Kunitaka Kojin, who is a professor of composition at the Tokyo University of the Arts, offering a deep dive into the music of our time.
