Android Opera “MIRROR – Deconstruction and Rebirth” to premiere this May at Osaka Festival Hall, with Keiichiro Shibuya and Android Maria appearing at the press conference.

A press conference was held in Osaka on Tuesday, January 13.
Keiichiro Shibuya and Android Maria appeared on stage to introduce the upcoming production.

In connection with the fact that the work features Shōmyō—a form of Buddhist chant with a history of approximately 1,200 years and regarded as one of Japan’s oldest musical traditions—veteran Kansai manzai comedians Haruka & Kanata Umino also joined as special guests.

On the day, they performed a manzai routine themed around AI for Android Maria, along with their well-known signature gag in which Kanata gently blows air to make Haruka’s thin hair flutter, bringing warm laughter to the venue.

For the occasion, Android Maria had even learned the Osaka dialect, expressing her enthusiasm for her first-ever performance in Osaka. The press conference became a memorable event where Osaka-style humor and futuristic themes intersected.
