Keiichiro Shibuya and the AI-powered android Maria will appear in a television commercial produced as the second installment of a project by BUFFALO Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President, Representative Director & CEO: Hiroyuki Maki).
This initiative supports artists’ innovative challenges through IT infrastructure, maximizing creative potential.
The commercial features a collaboration between Keiichiro Shibuya and the humanoid Android Maria, an AI-equipped android capable of singing and engaging in multilingual dialogue.
The TV commercial is scheduled to begin nationwide broadcast today, Friday, January 9.

For this commercial, Keiichiro Shibuya composed a brand-new piece titled Beyond Touch.
Android Maria not only performs as a vocalist but also participates in the songwriting process through AI, expressing themes of “connection” that arise beyond physical contact, as well as new relationships between humans and technology—conveyed through her voice and presence.

Filming took place in the ethereal space of KAIT Plaza at Kanagawa Institute of Technology, designed by architect Junya Ishigami.
The project also features special guest appearances by Grammy Award–winning bassist Charlotte Kemp Muhl, based in New York, and Finis Musicae, a project led by artist Sage Mallee that combines robotic arms and music. A new collaborative announcement involving these artists is also planned for the near future.

ABOUT：Android Maria is an AI-powered humanoid robot created by musician Keiichiro Shibuya, modeled after his late wife, Maria. Through this creation, he continues to question the boundaries between life and death, and between humanity and technology.

Beyond Touch brings into focus forms of “connection” that arise beyond physical contact, revealed through the android’s voice and presence.
