SUMMARY
Gallery Koko will host a public production by musician Keiichiro Shibuya from April 17 to 26. This project aims to publicly display the process and act of music creation, presenting a new installation that differs from traditional methods and multifaceted data representation.
A grand piano, computer, speakers, and keyboard used by Shibuya will be brought into the gallery, and through the spatial reconfiguration by architect Shohei Shigematsu, a studio that exists neither in virtual nor real space will emerge.
During the ten-day period from April 17 to 26, Shibuya will engage in his usual music production activities such as composition, performance, rehearsals, and meetings, all of which will be publicly broadcast in the gallery space and on Ustream. Visitors to the gallery will be able to see and hear his composing fingers and the keys through expanded projections captured by multiple fixed cameras, while Ustream will provide real-time access to the experience.
This serves as a microcosm of contemporary creative acts, taking place within the boundary between observation and surveillance. By witnessing this unprecedented “public production of music,” share the time as the maestro brings music to life.
