Composed and produced by Keiichiro Shibuya, the Android Opera MIRROR is a groundbreaking work in which an AI-equipped android sings alongside a 60-piece orchestra, piano, electronics, video, and shōmyō—Buddhist chant with a 1,200-year history. Having been staged at Expo 2020 Dubai and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and selling out instantly at its Tokyo performance last year, the production will finally come to Suntory Hall on Wednesday, November 5. Blurring the boundaries between human and technology, East and West, tradition and innovation, life and death, it offers a vision of a new model of harmony in the performing arts.
